The young Homeowners of this traditional Dupont Circle townhome wanted a modern, industrial loft-like aesthetic, so we stripped away almost all of the period detailing along with many of the walls to open up the spaces and the flow. We added back a poured “concrete” floor as well as a modern perforated steel staircase the ties together the levels of the house. The steel staircase and a number of salvaged objects – barn doors, reclaimed wood siding, old wood windows – along with the Homeowners wonderfully eclectic furnishings and art make for a lively setting for their young, growing family.
